Pumpkin Eve (Gallery Below!)
Year Created: 2017,2019 ~ Genre: Text Adventure ~ Length: 1.5 hours Premise: It's Halloween again, and shy Halloween spirit Pumpernick has high hopes- last Halloween he suffered a curse at the hand of the fearsome King Boogie, and this year he's determined to make up for lost time! Explore a town crawling with mystery, monsters, friends, secrets, and adventure! as you seek the perfect Halloween. But tread carefully- lest you run into King Boogie again! Background: Pumpkin Eve was originally my final project for a game writing class. Before long, I'd pushed it well outside the scope of the assignment. In Pumpkin Eve, I wanted to make a story-driven game that feels less like you're "choosing your own adventure" and more like you're physically present in the game's story. Rather than engaging with the narrative and gameplay separately, I wanted players to be able to address them simultaneously in their in-game decisions. Finally, I wanted to make a game that could immerse players in a fantasy world brimming with hand-crafted details and hidden secrets! Created Using: Twine, Autodesk Sketchbook Pumpkin Eve: A Musical Companion:
An accompanying playlist of autumn treats, from rockabilly and jukebox pop to folk, blues, and spooky old Americana. It's perfect for crisp autumn evenings and your own dusklight adventures! |
